1. 751 million monthly active users

By the end of 2025, 751 million people worldwide were using Spotify at least once a month, an 11% jump on the prior year and a record high for the platform.¹

2. 290 million paying Premium subscribers

Of those users, 290 million held a paid Premium subscription in Q4 2025, up 10% year on year. Roughly four in ten Spotify users now pay for the service.²

3. Record: 38 million new MAUs in one quarter

Spotify added 38 million net new monthly active users in Q4 2025 alone, the largest quarterly increase in the company's history and eight million ahead of its own guidance.³

Per IFPI's Global Music Report 2026, the UK retained its number three position globally in 2025 (behind the US and Japan) and remains the world's biggest music exporter after the US. Total UK recorded music revenue hit a record £1.57 billion, up 5.0%.⁹

MIDiA Research data published in mid 2025 put Spotify at roughly 15.3 million paying subscribers in the UK, giving it about 47.1% of the British paid streaming market. Amazon Music (~8.7M) and Apple Music (~6.2M) sit in second and third.¹⁰

11. 37% of UK adults use Spotify, rising to 64% of 16 to 34s

YouGov polling found Spotify reaching 37% of all UK adults and 64% of 16 to 34 year olds, making it Britain's most-used music streaming brand by a clear margin among under 55s.¹¹

12. Spotify is the UK's top podcast platform at 33%

Ofcom's 2025 audio listening research found that 33% of UK weekly podcast listeners aged 15+ use Spotify most often, ahead of YouTube (20%), BBC Sounds (15%) and Apple Podcasts (13%).¹²

13. About £860 million paid out for UK artists' music in 2025

Spotify says it paid more than £860 million in royalties for UK artists' music in 2025, up 6% year on year and more than double the 2018 figure. Over 75% of that money came from listening outside the UK, underlining how export-driven British music has become.¹³

What Spotify Costs in the UK

14. Premium Individual is now £12.99 a month

Spotify raised its UK Premium Individual price from £11.99 to £12.99 a month in the November 2025 billing cycle, an 8.3% rise and the third £1 hike in roughly three years. UK prices have climbed about 30% since mid 2023.¹⁴

15. Duo £17.99, Family £21.99, Student stays at £5.99

As of May 2026, Spotify's UK plans are: Individual £12.99/month, Duo £17.99/month, Family £21.99/month (up to six accounts) and Student £5.99/month. Only the student tier was spared in the latest round of increases.¹⁵

16. UK paid streaming revenue topped £902 million in 2025

BPI/ERA trade data show paid subscriptions to Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube brought in £902.2 million across the UK in 2025, up 3.1% year on year and 84.7% of all UK streaming revenue. Ad-supported streaming added a record £163.4 million.¹⁶

Spotify's catalogue now spans more than 100 million songs and over 700,000 audiobooks, alongside millions of podcasts. In year two of the audiobooks-in-Premium rollout, listeners grew 36% and hours consumed 37%.²⁴

25. UK Wrapped 2025: Taylor Swift tops artists, Alex Warren tops songs

Taylor Swift was the UK's most-streamed Spotify artist for the third year running, ahead of Drake and Sabrina Carpenter. The biggest song of the year was Alex Warren's Ordinary, which had clocked roughly 1.57 billion Spotify streams by late 2025 and spent 13 non-consecutive weeks at UK number one.²⁵
